This year, we are thrilled to honor 15-year-old Anna-Maria Beck who was diagnosed with a low grade ganglioglioma of the hypothalamus and optic pathways on February 27, 2007. Since that time, she has had numerous brain surgeries and six rounds of chemotherapy. In addition to many MRIs, she has had six weeks of proton radiation at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Anna-Maria is followed by Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Pediatric Neuroradiology, Pediatric Endocrinology, and Neuropsychology. She finished her sixth round of chemotherapy and now go back to the clinic for checkups.
Despite going through so many treatments, Anna-Maria is very happy and positive and very excited to help raise funds for raiseRED. She has witnessed many improvements at the children's hospital over the years as a patient and hopes to help participate in even more improvements in the future. We have loved seeing Anna-Maria at some of our pre-events this year, and we are so glad to call her a part of our raiseRED family.
